Job summary

Kardow is seeking an HP NonStop / Tandem Developer in Toronto for a contract engagement. The role covers Level 2/3 production support, development, enhancements, troubleshooting, and maintenance for mission-critical capital markets, treasury, payments, settlement and reconciliation applications on HP NonStop systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on HP NonStop/Tandem experience, Java production support skills, and deep knowledge of databases, middleware, and incident management.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with HP NonStop / Tandem environments.
• Java application development and/or production support experience.
• Experience with Level 2/3 production support for capital markets applications.
• Familiarity with TACL, FUP, SCF, OSS, SQL/MP, SQL/MX, Enscribe.

HP NonStop (Tandem) Developer

About the Role

We are seeking a Tandem Java Developer to provide Level 2/Level 3 production support, development, enhancement, troubleshooting, and maintenance for critical Capital Markets, Treasury, Payments, Processing, Settlement, and Reconciliation applications running on HP NonStop (Tandem) platforms.

The role requires strong hands‑on experience with HP NonStop/Tandem environments, Java/application support, databases, middleware, and production incident management.

Responsibilities

• Provide Level 2/Level 3 support for business‑critical applications running on HP NonStop/Tandem platforms.
• Perform hands‑on development, enhancements, troubleshooting, and maintenance of ATLAS applications.
• Analyze and resolve production incidents, service disruptions, and application performance issues within defined SLAs.
• Ensure stability, availability, and performance of high‑volume transaction processing systems.
• Collaborate with business users, operations teams, architects, infrastructure, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues and implement improvements.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to minimize recurring incidents.
• Support application deployments, releases, upgrades, and environment changes across development, testing, and production.
• Participate in production release and change‑management activities.
• Troubleshoot application, database, middleware, and infrastructure‑related issues within the NonStop environment.

HP NonStop / Tandem Platform Administration

• Administer and support HP NonStop (Tandem) systems to maintain high availability and operational resilience.
• Utilize TACL, FUP, SCF, OSS, SQL/MP, SQL/MX, and Enscribe for system administration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Monitor NonStop system health, capacity, availability, and performance.
• Support DSM/SCM activities, including software deployment, version control, and change management.
• Work with infrastructure/SSHW teams to maintain operating system currency and implement recommended HPE NonStop SPRs and critical patches.
• Participate in infrastructure maintenance, system upgrades, hardware refreshes, and disaster recovery activities.

Database & Storage Management

• Support database creation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Manage SQL/MX, SQL/MP, and Enscribe database environments.
• Ensure database availability, integrity, and performance for critical applications.
• Assist with database replication and synchronization between NonStop and external environments.
• Support storage planning, disk sizing, backup strategies, data retention, recovery testing, and restoration activities.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and automation teams for storage housekeeping and SAVEABEND file management.

Communications & Middleware Support

• Support communication subsystems and network connectivity within the HP NonStop/Tandem environment.
• Configure and troubleshoot SSH, SSL, and secure communication protocols.
• Manage and support WebSphere MQ for NonStop, including integrations and message flows.
• Support Secure DPS and comForte configurations for secure transaction processing.
• Collaborate with network and security teams to maintain reliable connectivity and compliance.
