Job summary

The Mustard Seed in Kamloops, BC seeks a Housing Focused Shelter Team Lead to oversee operations, mentor staff, and provide person-centered support to shelter guests. Reporting to the Shelter Manager, you will manage shifts, ensure safety, and coordinate crisis intervention as needed.

You will build strong relationships with guests, track records, and collaborate with the Emergency Shelter Supervisor to meet housing goals and program outcomes.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate in Human Services or Social Work is asset.
• Minimum 2 years of frontline experience in social services.
• Knowledge of mental health issues and addictions.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven leadership capabilities and ability to mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide supportive and proactive leadership to Housing Focused Shelter Workers.
• Lead shift teams and ensure follow-through of tasks.
• Train and mentor employees and volunteers during shifts.
• Oversee intake, assessments, and referrals for shelter guests.
• Maintain confidential client records and generate daily/incident reports.
