Job summary

The Mustard Seed in Kamloops, BC is seeking a Housing Focused Shelter Worker for a part-time fixed-term assignment through March 2027. The role involves crisis support, case management, and ensuring a safe shelter environment while connecting guests to housing resources.

Evening shifts are required Friday through Monday. Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of experience with marginalized populations and a diploma in Human Services or related field, with a strong commitment to ending

Qualifications

1 year of experience working with marginalized populations.
Diploma and/or certificate in Human Services, Social Work, or a relevant field (preferred).
Demonstrated passion for ending homelessness in British Columbia.
Ability to follow organizational protocols of front-line programs to completion.
Experience in case management and advocacy is an asset.

Responsibilities

Serve as the first point of contact for shelter participants seeking support with dignity and equity.
Respond promptly to crises, address health concerns, de-escalate and offer healthy alternatives.
Enforce shelter rules and maintain a safe, clean environment for participants.
Model respectful interactions and provide referrals and supportive conversations.
Carry a caseload of 7-8 clients and document interactions in CCMS.
