Job summary

Capilano Golf and Country Club in West Vancouver is seeking a reliable Houseman to support clubhouse and golf course operations, including event setup, maintenance, and guest services. You will work with the events team to ensure spaces are prepared and kept clean.

Responsibilities

• Set up event rooms and restaurant spaces for meetings, weddings, banquets and other club events.
• Assist in preparation and breakdown of events, including moving furniture and arranging decorations.
• Provide general maintenance and ensure cleanliness of restrooms, hallways and public areas.
• Move and store supplies and equipment as needed for events and seasonal tasks.
• Collaborate with food and beverage and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
• Perform custodial duties including sweeping, mopping and cleaning windows.
• Assist with other duties and minor repairs around the club when required.

Job description

We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, proactive and versatile Houseman to join our team at Capilano Golf and Country Club. This position reports to the Facility Operations Manager.

This Houseman will be responsible for supporting the smooth operation of the clubhouse and golf course by setting up and maintaining event spaces, assisting with various tasks around the facility, and ensuring the highest level of cleanliness and service. This position requires someone self-motivated, able to work independently, and physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Set up event rooms and restaurant spaces for meetings, weddings, banquets, and other club events, ensuring all items are placed and arranged according to specifications.
• Assist in the preparation and breakdown of events, including moving furniture, setting tables, arranging decorations, and ensuring all equipment is in working order.
• Provide general maintenance and support throughout the clubhouse and golf course, including ensuring restrooms, hallways, and public areas are clean, tidy, and stocked with necessary supplies.
• Assist with moving and storing supplies, furniture, and other equipment as needed for events, seasonal changes, and regular club operations.
• Work closely with the food and beverage team and other departments to ensure all activities run smoothly.
• Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and cleaning indoor and outdoor areas.
• Lift and transport heavy objects, including furniture and supplies, as required for events and other tasks.
• Assist with other duties as assigned, including seasonal tasks and special projects.
• Be capable of doing minor repairs, small painting jobs, fixing tools, furniture, and other minor maintenance duties related to the role.

Qualifications and skill requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods of time.
• Experience doing minor repairs and maintenance.
• Previous experience in hospitality or event setup is preferred but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Must be proactive and able to work independently and manage tasks without direct supervision.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by club events.
• Must have a valid BC Driver's license.
