Job summary

Petroglyph Development Group operates Casino Victoria and is seeking a maintenance technician to oversee general and specialized maintenance and repairs of site property. Qualifications

  • Secondary school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • At least one year of experience in a related field; formal training in trades is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Trade certification or licensing in a relevant profession is an asset.
  • Excellent teamwork, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain Gaming Worker Registration with IGCO and Serving It Right certification.
  • Regular casino environment, requires standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 50lbs
  • Flexible schedule with non-traditional hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, and maintain doors and door hardware.
  • Perform drywall repairs, patching, and painting.
  • Complete washroom repairs and maintain fixtures.
  • Unclog toilets and sinks using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Replace burned-out light bulbs and lighting components.
  • Perform basic carpentry work and flooring repairs.
  • Carry out power washing.
  • Daily bottle collection and deliveries.
  • Event space setup and teardown.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC units.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Follow safety procedures and report unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Build positive working relationships with guests, ownership, team members, vendors, and regulators.
  • Follow IGCO, BCLC, and HR policies related to the role; ensure licensing compliance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Under the general direction of the Operations Management team, this position is responsible for general and specialized maintenance and repairs to site property, including regular compliance inspections and preventative maintenance. Responsibilities will include maintenance/service of electrical, plumbing and painting duties as required. You will maintain a clean and safe work environment and demonstrate the utmost integrity and the highest caliber of customer service and respect to guests and employees.

Job Duties
  • Repair, install, and maintain doors and door hardware;
  • Perform drywall repairs, patching, and painting
  • Complete washroom repairs and perform routine preventative maintenance on fixtures
  • Unclog toilets and sinks using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Replace burned-out light bulbs and lighting components
  • Perform basic carpentry work
  • Carry out carpet and flooring repairs
  • Perform power washing
  • Daily bottle collection
  • Deliveries
  • Event space setup and teardown
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all HVAC units
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and report unsafe practices or conditions
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with guests, ownership, team members, vendors, and regulators
  • Follow all applicable IGCO, BCLC, and HR policies related to the role
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety requirements, and other statutory regulations; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience;
  • At least one year of experience in a related field, with formal training in one or more trade areas considered an asset;
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills;
  • Trade certification or licensing in a relevant profession is an asset;
  • Excellent teamwork, customer service, and communication skills;
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues;
  • Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to obtain Gaming Worker Registration with IGCO and Serving It Right certification through Responsible Service BC;
  • Regular casino and cage environment, requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 50lbs
  • Flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, and will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
Work Environment Considerations
  • This role involves lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, driving, exposure to heat and cold, dust and dirt, and working non-traditional hours.
