Job summary

The Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto is seeking an Assistant Manager, Facility Services (Housekeeping) to lead daily housekeeping operations and coordinate service delivery for the Gallery. You will train staff, monitor compliance with health and safety standards, and support budgeting for labour and materials while ensuring excellent guest service.

Weekend and some evenings work is required as part of supporting the building operations and service delivery.

Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of cleaning and housekeeping principles.
Experience directly related to facility services.
Knowledge of facility operation procedures.
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated labour management and supervisory skills in a unionized environment.
Demonstrated customer service excellence.
Well-developed administrative, organizational and trouble-shooting skills.
Well-developed interpersonal and team-building skills.
Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, WHMIS and safety regulations and practices.

Responsibilities

Manages the delivery of services, focusing on efficient processes and resolving operational concerns as they arise.
Manages subordinate staff through training, scheduling, feedback and safety training; assists in hiring.
Assists with budget development and management for labour and materials related to housekeeping.
Identifies equipment and material needs and ensures stock, materials and equipment are on hand; resolves labour relations issues.
