Job summary

The Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto is seeking a Regular Part-Time Restaurant Host to join our Food & Beverage team. You will greet guests, seat them promptly, assist with coats, and manage dining reservations to ensure efficient service.

The role requires at least 2 years as a host in a reputable restaurant, experience with reservations systems (OpenTable a plus), and strong interpersonal and communication skills. Availability on weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays is essential.

• At least 2 years’ experience as a host in a reputable restaurant.
• Experience taking and timing reservations to optimise turnover.
• Experience with reservation systems; OpenTable is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and seat them accordingly; assist with coats and farewell.

• Address customer comments/complaints and escalate when needed.
• Prepare restaurant for opening/closing; maintain cleanliness and order.

Restaurant Host

Regular Part-Time

(Up to 24 hours per week; must be available to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays. Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday availability is prioritized.)

We are currently seeking a Regular Part-Time, Restaurant Host to join our Food & Beverage team. Under the direction of the Manager, Revenue Outlets Operations and Services, F&B, the incumbent will greet guests and show them to the dining room promptly in order to provide efficient and attentive service. Schedules dining reservations as required.

The rate of pay for this position is $19.14 - $24.03 per hour

What is this position responsible for?

• Greets customers to the restaurant and seats accordingly.Assists customers with their coats and bids farewell to guests as they are leaving.
• Books reservations and responds to inquiries regarding menu and general restaurant operation.
• Responds to customer comments and complaints; determines nature of complaint and refers to supervisor as required.
• Prepares restaurant for opening and/or closing; make sure cleanliness and order; rearranges tables as required.

What are we looking for?

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a host in a reputable, established restaurant
• Directly related experience at taking, timing and callbacks of reservations to suit the table turnover
• Demonstrated experience operating a POS System
• Experience with Open Table is an asset
• Ability to work independently and as a team player
• High attention to detail
• Demonstrated organizational skills
• Demonstrated knowledge of restaurant/hospitality practices and procedures
• Well-developedcustomer relations and customer service skills
• Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
