Job summary

The Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba in Brandon, MB is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee facilities, exhibitions, equipment and gallery operations. You will collaborate with artists, curators and staff to ensure smooth installations, tours and programs.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in gallery or museum operations, strong organizational and problem-solving skills, and hands-on ability to lift and install works. This role offers a varied, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in arts administration, museum studies, business, operations management or a related field, or equivalent experience
• At least 3 years of experience in gallery, museum, cultural, facilities or operations management
• Experience coordinating facilities, exhibitions, events, contractors or multiple projects
• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills
• Practical knowledge of tools, equipment, facility operations or exhibition preparation is an asset
• Ability to perform hands-on work, including lifting, climbing ladders and supporting exhibition installations

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operation, maintenance, safety and security of Gallery facilities and spaces
• Coordinate facility use, rentals, schedules, contractors and operational services
• Support exhibition preparation, installation, deinstallation, artwork handling and shipping
• Coordinate studio and classroom operations, supplies, equipment and program schedules
• Work closely with Gallery staff, artists, curators, contractors and service providers to keep exhibitions and programs on track
• Identify operational needs and help improve the functionality and use of Gallery spaces

Are you someone who enjoys variety and takes a hands-on approach? Help shape the day-to-day operations of a vibrant art gallery! As Operations Manager, you’ll oversee facilities, exhibitions, equipment and gallery operations while working closely with the team, with opportunities to support everything from facility maintenance to exhibition installations.
