Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care is seeking a housekeeping/laundry associate in Markham, Ontario. Under the direction of the Facility Manager, you will perform housekeeping and laundry tasks efficiently and cooperatively, prioritizing residents’ comfort.

Requirements include ability to lift heavy items, basic English, and good customer service. Computer/phone apps familiarity is expected; Chinese language is a plus.

Qualifications

• Able to perform heavy lifting and inspect linens to ensure cleaning standards.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Must be comfortable using computer/phone applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform housekeeping and laundry tasks for residents.
• Work under direction of Facility Manager to support resident comfort.
• Follow safety and hygiene guidelines and shift schedules.

Job description

Under the direction of the Facility Manager, responsible for performing housekeeping and laundry tasks in an efficient and cooperative manner, and with due consideration for the needs and comfort of the residents.

Qualifications

• Able to perform heavy lifting tasks and visual acuity for inspecting linens and to ensure cleaning tasks are performed to standard
• Some experience in institutional housekeeping or laundry is an asset
• Excellent customer service skills
• Must be comfortable using computer/phone applications
• Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
• Ability to communicate in Chinese an asset.

• Considerable lifting, pushing, pulling, standing, walking and bending
• Exposed to chemicals, body waste, garbage
• Shift work
