Job summary

Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care in Toronto is seeking an attendant to perform housekeeping and laundry tasks, following a scheduled plan and ensuring residents’ comfort. You will handle routine deep cleaning, disinfect surfaces, manage linen inventory, and maintain safety practices.

Qualifications

  • Able to perform heavy lifting and inspect linens to ensure cleaning standards are met.
  • Some institutional housekeeping or laundry experience is an asset.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Comfortable using computer/phone applications.
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS).
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate in Chinese is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performs housekeeping/laundry tasks efficiently according to schedule and with residents in mind.
  • Performs routine deep cleaning according to schedule.
  • Cleans and disinfects the building.
  • Labels residents' clothing clearly and accurately.
  • Maintains inventory records of linen and laundry supplies.
  • Ensures dryer operation is safe and lint is cleaned.
  • Keeps exits and corridors clear and participates in drills and procedures.
  • Replenishes supplies as appropriate.
  • Complies with health, safety, sanitation and infection control policies.
  • Keeps up-to-date with developments in the field.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Under the direction of the Facility Manager, responsible for performing housekeeping and laundry tasks in an efficient and cooperative manner, and with due consideration for the needs and comfort of the residents. Qualifications: Able to perform heavy lifting tasks and visual acuity for inspecting linens and to ensure cleaning tasks are performed to standard Some experience in institutional housekeeping or laundry is an asset Excellent customer service skills Must be comfortable using computer/phone applications Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Screen Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions in English. Ability to communicate in Chinese an asset.

Responsibilities
  • Performs housekeeping/laundry tasks in an efficient and cooperative manner according to the established schedule, and with due consideration for the residents
  • Performs routine deep cleaning according to established schedule
  • Cleans and disinfects the building
  • Labels residents' personal clothing items clearly and accurately
  • Maintains accurate inventory record of linen and laundry supplies
  • Ensures safe operation of dryer and regular cleaning of lint from dryer
  • Ensures exits and corridors are clear of blockages, and actively participates in fire and disaster drills and procedures and carrying out the duties assigned
  • Replenishes supplies as appropriate
  • Complies with the health and safety policies to minimize the risk to residents, clients, coworkers and self
  • Complies with sanitation and infection control procedures
  • Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field
  • Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $20.27 - $22.52
