About Queen’s University Biological Station (QUBS)The Queen's University Biological Station (QUBS) is one of Canada’s premier scientific field stations. For nearly 70 years, researchers from Queen’s University and institutions across Canada, the US, Europe, Latin America, and China have conducted leading-edge research and field courses in ecology, evolution, conservation, geography, and environmental science.QUBS comprises two campuses: the Opinicon Campus near Chaffey’s Locks in Elgin, and the Elbow Lake Environmental Education Centre (ELEEC) in Perth Road Village. Together, these campuses offer a rich educational environment with over 40 buildings providing quality living and laboratory facilities for long- and short-term guests year-round. QUBS also hosts public workshops, outreach events, conferences, and training programs.
Position OverviewQUBS is seeking a full-time Housekeeping and Public Area Cleaner to maintain cleanliness in guest accommodations and research facility.
Qualifications- Minimum Grade 12 Secondary School Diploma
- At least one year of general cleaning experience or equivalent
- Reliable, honest, and self-motivated
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Physically fit, able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with coworkers, QUBS users, and the public
- Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
