Job summary

Compass One in Toronto seeks a hospital housekeeping attendant to perform routine cleaning across patient rooms, clinics, lobbies, and other areas in line with quality standards.

You will wear PPE, use hospital-approved cleaning chemicals and equipment, attend safety meetings, and maintain attendance and punctuality.

The role requires English fluency, ability to stand/walk for long periods, and lifting up to 20 kg; weekend work is possible with most weekends off in two.

Description

Accountabilities:

• Performing routine cleaning (surface disinfection, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, etc.) of all areas of the facility including but not limited to occupied/unoccupied patient rooms, clinics, nursing stations, waiting rooms, lobbies, washrooms, offices, kitchens, operating rooms, utility rooms, corridors, morgues, equipment, and public areas in accordance with quality standards, procedures, and departmental training
• Successful candidates may also be trained in the use of motorized cleaning equipment and performing floor care
• Attending staff meetings, safety huddles, education, and training as required
• Utilizing hospital approved cleaning chemicals and equipment (such as ladders, mops, vacuums and some motorized cleaning equipment) in accordance with departmental training and procedures
• Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and uniform as required
• Performing other duties in support of the housekeeping function and other duties as assigned and/or required by a supervisor or Manager
• Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record required
• Must be able to work where exposed to infection, blood/human waste, odors and work interruptions
• Schedule may include weekend work; effort will be made to give one weekend off in two.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to perform repetitive activities such as lifting (up to 44 lbs. or 8-20 kg), reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, walking and occasionally climbing ladders as required
