Job Description
Hours: 37.5 hours/weekly
Accountabilities
Verbal and Written Communication:
- To complete monitoring checklists
- To ensure that supply lists are maintained and up to date.
- To report health and safety issues to a supervisor
Reporting
- Complete supply monitoring forms; checklists and hazard reporting.
Duties
- Complete tasks related to housekeeping, including washing floors, sweeping, dusting and vacuuming.
- Prepare rooms for incoming clients, including making beds, cleaning and changing linens.
- Maintain the general upkeep of the building and external property
- To coordinate duties with the Head Housekeeper.
- Adhere to the procedures for universal precautions
- Adhere to the facility’s Fire Safety Plan and emergency procedures
- Ensure that all policies and procedures for the health and safety of the facility are followed for the use and storage of chemicals used for cleaning in accordance with WHMIS.
- Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by the Health and Safety policies of The Salvation Army
- Perform other position related duties as required
Critical Relationship Management
Governance Boards and Councils:
Internal
- Reports to the Director of Operations or designate
Working Conditions
- Performs housekeeping and cleaning duties in a community residential facility for adult male offenders
- Duties require lifting up to 20 lbs.
- No travel required

Education, Qualifications And Certifications
- Completion of Secondary School Diploma
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- Non-violent Crisis Intervention training or conflict management an asset
- Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion
- Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance through Correctional Service Canada required
- Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience in housekeeping and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $19.42 to $19.67 with a maximum of $19.92.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
