The Salvation Army is seeking a Housekeeper for a community residential facility for adult male offenders. The ideal candidate will complete various cleaning and maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment in accordance with organizational standards. A Secondary School Diploma and First Aid certifications are required, along with previous housekeeping experience.

Job Description:
Hours: 37.5 hours/weekly
Accountabilities:
Verbal and Written Communication:
To complete monitoring checklists
To ensure that supply lists are maintained and up to date.
To report health and safety issues to a supervisor
Reporting:
Complete supply monitoring forms; checklists and hazard reporting.
Duties:
Complete tasks related to housekeeping, including washing floors, sweeping, dusting and vacuuming.
Prepare rooms for incoming clients, including making beds, cleaning and changing linens .
Maintain the general upkeep of the building and external property
To coordinate duties with the Head Housekeeper .
Adhere to the procedures for universal precautions
Adhere to the facility’s Fire Safety Plan and emergency procedures
Ensure that all policies and procedures for the health and safety of the facility are followed for the use and storage of chemicals used for cleaning in accordance with WHMIS.
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by the Health and Safety policies of The Salvation Army
Perform other position related duties as required

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Performs housekeeping and cleaning duties in a community residential facility for adult male offenders
Duties require lifting up to 20 lbs.
No travel required

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
Completion of Secondary School Diploma
Current First Aid/CPR certification
Non-violent Crisis Intervention training or conflict management an asset
Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion
Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance through Correctional Service Canada required
Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience in housekeeping and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance
D evelop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $19.42 to $19.67 with a maximum of $19.92.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
