Job summary

Northland Properties, operating Canada’s Sandman Hotel Group in Markham, Ontario, is seeking a Night Auditor to perform nightly audits, balance ledgers, and prepare operating reports. This role requires working the night shift on the front desk and delivering exceptional guest service.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus a two-year apprenticeship or college program in front desk operations or hotel management.

Qualifications

• Fluent in English and French (preferred).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two-year apprenticeship or college program in front desk operations/hotel management preferred.
• Experience in customer service and people management.
• Strong knowledge of hospitality industry principles, methods, practices.
• Strong knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
• Ability to analyze client needs and offer appropriate options and solutions.
• Excellent conflict resolution, negotiation and objection handling skills.
• Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with corporate departments and customers.
• Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management and budgeting techniques.
• Effective verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an inventory of vacancies, reservations and room assignments.
• Register arriving guests and assign rooms.
• Answer inquiries regarding hotel services and registration; provide community information; respond to complaints.
• Compile daily records and guest accounts; check receipts and vouchers.
• Present statements of charges to departing guests and process payments.
• Hotel security duties.
• Post daily room charges and balances.
• Take over from evening cashier and manage float and takings.
• Accept revenue from restaurant cashiers and secure it.
• Lock away keys from various departments.
• Prepare credit card summaries and post to accounts.
• Maintain high personal hygiene and appearance.
