Job summary

University Health Network in Toronto is seeking a Food Services Supervisor to oversee Patient Tray Assembly, Ware Washing and other Nutrition Services functions at the Lyndhurst Centre, reporting to the Manager for a temporary part-time role. Shifts are 0600-1900, Monday-Sunday, with up to 24 hours weekly.

Closing date Oct 9, 2026. The role requires a Nutrition program graduate, CSNM membership, Food Handler Certification, and at least 2 years of supervisory experience, plus CBORD knowledge is

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Food and Nutrition Management Program at a Community College or university.
• Membership in CSNM or related professional Food Service Association.
• Completion of a Food Handler Certification Program.
• Minimum two years related recent Food Service Supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation and food safety; therapeutic and allergies knowledge preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills; verbal and written communication.
• CBORD knowledge; computer literacy preferred.
• Previous healthcare and unionized environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct and indirect supervision to staff in Patient Tray Assembly, Ware Washing and other areas of the Nutrition Services Department.
• Performing activities to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Lyndhurst Centre.
• Ensuring adequate and appropriate food/non food supplies, and working equipment.
• Maintaining standards of safe food handling, preparation, quality, quantity, accuracy, service, cleanliness and inventory control.
• Utilizing CBORD system for purchasing and receiving functions, monitoring Nutrition Services Inventory flow, generating reports, and CBORD menu management for patient forecasting reports, menus and tray tickets, ensuring on-time food production and transportation.
• Completing employee scheduling, as required, performing educational instruction, quality improvement and resource management responsibilities.
• Maintaining ongoing communications with the manager and other key players to ensure timely information dissemination.
• Ensuring staffing issues are addressed following collective agreements.
• Adheres to Toronto Public Health standards.
• Performing cross-functional and other duties as assigned.
