Job summary

University Health Network is hiring at the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, Lyndhurst Centre, Nutrition Services. The role is a temporary full-time position (up to 3 months) with 37.5 hours per week, weekdays and alternating weekends.

You will prepare daily meals in line with approved recipes and therapeutic diet orders, ensuring proper labeling, safety, and food handling. Requires Red Seal certification, knowledge of food safety, and a Current Food Handler Certification.

Qualifications

• New hires must have grade 12 or equivalent education.
• Proficiency in reading, writing and oral English.
• Red Seal certification.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Current Food Handler Certification.
• Ability to read and follow production sheets and standardized recipes.
• Strong attention to detail and time management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items for next-day tray assembly following approved recipes and production sheets.
• Assist with breakfast, lunch, and dinner preparations, including texture modified items.
• Assist with sandwich preparations.
• Store products using FIFO and ensure proper labeling, dating, and organization.
• Adheres to therapeutic diet orders and food safety considerations.
• Label, date, and store items properly; maintain temperature control.
• Record production quantities and report shortages to the Supervisor.
• Organize and stock supplies for next-day operations.
• Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas; restock production tools.
• Follow departmental hygiene, uniform standards, and safety policies.
