Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is hiring a Permanent Full-Time 3rd Class Power Engineer for Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer and Assistant Manager on a 24-hour rotating shift, you will troubleshoot, maintain, repair and monitor all steam plant equipment and support facility maintenance.

You will oversee energy production to ensure constant plant operation, including boiler, chiller and water treatment systems.

Qualifications

• 3rd Class Power Engineer License to operate as issued by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour.
• In-depth knowledge of building mechanical systems, including medical gas/vacuum systems.
• Previous building maintenance experience.
• Water treatment familiarity.
• Knowledge of labor and safety codes.
• Must be able to work independently; travel to other sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, maintains, repairs and monitors steam plant equipment.
• Oversees energy production to ensure continuous plant operation.
• Travel within the zone or other zones as needed.
• Supports facility general maintenance as regulations permit.
