Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre Inc. is seeking a Home-Based Crisis Intervention Mentor on a casual basis. The role is home-based with a King Street office as base and salary to be negotiated.

The mentor will respond to referrals, provide parent support, mediation, emotional support, and recreational activities to children and families in crisis. Qualifications include crisis mentoring experience, strong communication, report writing, organizational and time-management skills, and a valid Manitoba

Qualifications

• Understand and be sensitive to issues impacting children/youth/families.
• Ability to mentor youth and/or adults in crisis.
• Support goal setting and attainment for families in varying crisis levels.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Report writing skills advocating for families.
• Organizational skills; able to work independently and creatively.
• Independent problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of Indigenous and community issues.
• Knowledge and skills to work with children/youth.
• Computer skills are an asset.
• Strong motivational and leadership skills.
• Team player and facilitator.
• Time management skills.
• Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
• Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Query and Child Abuse Registry Check; Prior Contact Check.

Responsibilities

• Respond to referrals from community partners immediately.
• Provide parent support services, mediation, conflict resolution, emotional support, and recreational activities.
• Support the child’s and family’s best interests across wide ranges of responsibilities.
• Work collaboratively with families and partners to ensure safety and well-being.
