Job summary

Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. is seeking a Family Mentor for evening shifts (Mon to Fri, 1pm–9pm) to support families in crisis in Winnipeg, MB.

The role focuses on stabilizing families, connecting them with community resources, and delivering culturally grounded in-home support. The Family Mentor will work under the Nagijeung Abinoojiik program, providing childcare, light household tasks, and emotional support to parents, children and youth while modeling positive parenting and ensuring

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of direct work experience in family and community care services.
• Knowledge of North End/Inner-City services and networks.
• Understanding of strength-based, trauma-informed care, community capacity models, solution-focused and 24-hour caring response practices.
• Must provide a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector search, and other checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide culturally appropriate in-home support to stabilize families.
• Assist families with access to community resources and services.
• Provide emotional support to parents, children and youth.
• Provide childcare in crises and assist with basic household tasks.
• Role model effective parenting skills and positive parent/child interactions.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of services provided.
