Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) seeks a Home and Electronics Sales Associate to support members of the CAF and their families. You will help set up electronics and furniture departments, advise on products, stock shelves and process sales, including extended warranties and accessories.

The role requires strong customer service skills, cash handling, and the ability to work as part of a team in a busy on-site environment in Victoria, BC.

Qualifications

  • Experience with electronics, computers, furniture or appliances.
  • Experience selling extended warranties and accessories.
  • Experience handling cash and providing customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in set-up of electronics, computers, appliances and furniture departments.
  • Provide technical and professional sales advice to members.
  • Order stock and ensure shelves are stocked, faced and signed.
  • Explain and sell extended warranty programs and accessories.
  • Operate Point of Sale systems and maintain cash float.
  • Provide additional retail services as needed (dry cleaning, lottery, takeout).

THE ROLE

As a Home and Electronics Sales Associate, you provide retail services to a unique client base - members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and in assisting them, you are helping your community. You assist in the set-up of the electronics, computers, appliances, and furniture departments and provide technical and professional advice on sales and products offered. You assist with ordering stock and ensure that shelves are stocked, faced, and properly signed. You explain and sell extended warranty programs and accessories.

The Home and Electronics Sales Associate may also provide a variety of other retail services, including regular retail services, dry cleaning, lottery services, self-serve gas services, and postal services. You will operate Point of Sales systems, the debit/credit machine, and maintain a float. You may take and prepare food and beverage orders and prepare takeout food, while ensuring cleanliness of food service and eating areas.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
  • Education, Certifications and Licenses: An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience
  • Food Handling Certification, as required
  • Experience in electronics, computers equipment, furniture and appliances
  • Experience in selling extended warranty and accessories
  • Experience in cash handling
  • Experience in sales and merchandising
  • Competencies: Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
  • English Essential / Bilingual (English and French) an asset
  • Reading: Basic
  • Writing: Basic
  • Oral: Functional
