Overview

High School Math & Science Tutor at Oxford Learning Centres Inc. – Oxford Learning Edmonton Windermere

This is a part-time, in-person position. You must be able to commute to the Windermere location. Relocation packages are not available. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. This role involves after-school, evening hours (4:00pm - 8:00pm) and some Saturdays (9:00am - 4:00pm). A commitment through the end of the school year in June is preferred; continuation through the summer is a plus.

Applicants should have a strong interest in mathematics and science and enjoy helping students build skills in these areas.

Note: Lessons are pre-planned; you will receive full training in our proprietary philosophy and methods.

Responsibilities (Position Details)
  • Work directly with students as an Interactive Coach, teaching up to 3 students at a time at different levels
  • Teach both online and in-person sessions
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies
  • Complete post-lesson notes and daily student communication updates
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Grades 9-12 math and science curricula (including algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors; physics, chemistry, biology)
  • Some experience teaching/tutoring math at Grade 9–12 (or equivalent)
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide students’ understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
