High School English/Humanities Teacher

Lowell High School is an independent BC high school and IB World School. We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Secondary Language Arts and/or Humanities Teacher.

START DATE: September 2025

LOCATION: Vancouver, BC, Canada

Job Overview

The ideal candidate will:

• Present qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach English and Humanities courses at the secondary level.
• Exhibit an understanding of international student learners.
• Be a positive, flexible, adaptable individual committed to student-centered teaching.
• Demonstrate a willingness to work with a group of professionals to collaborate regarding curriculum, assessment, instruction, and planning in a small-class environment with an average 1:8 teacher-student ratio.
• Demonstrate awareness of BC curriculum requirements, and the appropriate application of performance standards.
• Be a communicator, with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to create effective working relationships with colleagues and students.
• Experience working with international students and ELL learners is an asset.
• Be comfortable using Canvas and technology in the classroom.
• Demonstrate ability to differentiate instruction to accommodate students with varying language abilities and learning styles.

Qualifications

• BC certified teacher (TRB); or must be immediately eligible for certification.
• Experience teaching English/Humanities curriculum at the secondary level.
• IB experience preferred.
• A keen willingness to support learners.

Benefits

• Competitive compensation and benefits package with a full-time salary range of $61,175 to $70,000 based on TQS certification (education and experience).
