Job summary

gategroup in Mississauga seeks motivated, engaged individuals for a full-time, permanent position represented by a labor union under a collective bargaining agreement. RAIC and AVOP needed. Provides benefits such as extended health, dental, RRSP matching, paid vacation, and employee discounts.

Duties include load/unload of catering material, pre-trip checks, and coordination with multiple departments. Requires minimum high school diploma with Math/English accreditations and a clean driving

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma is required, with specific accreditations in Math and English.
• Minimum Class 5 driver’s license is required.
• Clean driving record.
• Food handlers’ certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Completes the gathering and fault-free timely load / off-load of catering material, assuring load security and coordinating with necessary departments and duty manager.
• Performs pre-trip truck checks, maintains cleanliness and operates the high loader catering vehicle.
• Loads and unloads aircraft according to flight schedules and loading lists, labeling and placing items in correct galley positions per safety and customer requirements.
• Liaises with the Transport Dispatcher in case of injuries, material shortages, irregular operations, or block outs.
• Utilizes downtime as directed (e.g., laundry, storage, vehicle tasks, Pick & Pack) and adheres to safety regulations.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Driving is NOT the primary duty of the job
• Completes the gathering and fault free timely load / off-load of catering material, assuring complete load security, coordinating with all necessary departments and duty manager
• Completes the pre-trip truck checks, ensuring cleanliness and assumes responsibility for the driving of high loader catering vehicle
• Loads and unloads aircraft in accordance with flight schedules, loading lists / labels and stowage’s in the correct galley positions and health and safety / customer requirements
• Liaises with the Transport Dispatcher in the case of injuries and accidents, absence of material, or any other irregular operations or block outs
• Uses downtime according to the dispatcher (e.g., laundry, storage, vehicle, Pick & Pack, etc.)
• Compliance with the regulations (Materials / Security / Country / Safety / SQOR / Company Rules and Procedures)

Education / Technical Skills

• Minimum high school diploma is required, with specific accreditations in Math and English
• Minimum Class 5 driver’s license is required
• Clean driving record
• Food handlers’ certificate is an asset

Work Experience

• Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Experience of working in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

Job Requirements

• Work 8 hours rotative shifts that will include weekdays, weekends and holidays
• Work overtime when required
• Arrive to work on-time
• Pass a criminal background check and driver’s abstract

Job Knowledge and Skills

• Excellent communicator (oral and written), who demonstrates sound judgment, tact, and works well in high-pressure situations
• Current Driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and pass a criminal check
• Must have skill and ability to understand and read spec
• Able to handle multi-tasks and adapt to change
• Self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to work in an environment that encourages and fosters teamwork, participation, creativity, honesty and mutual respect
• Knowledge of safe lifting techniques, as regular and repetitive heavy lifting (approx. 50lbs) is required
• Ability to work shift work

Environmental Requirements and Working Conditions

• Majority of duties performed outside in a variety of weather conditions
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move product, equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds
• This is a physically demanding position – Regularly stands, bends, lifts, and moves intermittently during shifts of 8+ hours
• Must be able to work at heights up to 20-25 feet
