Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America invites applications for a Warehouse/Utility Person who will support the Heavy Mobile Equipment maintenance team by managing parts, supplies, and inventory. The role covers receiving, organizing, and distributing parts, as well as assisting with procurement and yard operations.

You will help maintain safe, efficient storage areas, assist maintenance staff, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts while adhering to safety standards and union guidelines.

Qualifications

• Mechanically inclined with an interest in heavy equipment and maintenance.
• Strong computer skills including email, spreadsheets, electronic forms.
• Excellent organization with attention to detail for accurate inventory records.
• Ability to lift and perform outdoor work in varying conditions; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The HME Warehouse / Utility Person provides day-to-day support to the Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) maintenance department by assisting with parts receiving and inventory, shop and yard organization, fuel and lubricant supplies, and general maintenance activities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Receive, inspect, organize, and distribute parts, supplies, and materials while maintaining accurate inventory records and system updates.
• Support parts procurement activities by assisting with parts identification, vendor communication, inventory replenishment, and order tracking.
• Maintain warehouse, fuel dock, lubricant storage, and staging areas to ensure safe, organized, and efficient operations.
• Assist maintenance personnel by preparing parts and materials, staging equipment, supporting basic maintenance activities, and helping maintain tools and components.
• Promote a safe and productive work environment through housekeeping, inventory control, waste management, and continuous improvement of storage and work areas.

What We Are Looking For

• Mechanically inclined with an interest in heavy equipment, automotive, industrial, or mechanical work and comfortable working around mobile equipment and maintenance activities.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to use email, spreadsheets, electronic forms, and learn inventory, maintenance, and purchasing systems.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to accurately manage materials, parts, and inventory records.
• Ability to safely perform physical work, including lifting, carrying, handling parts, and working outdoors in varying conditions; valid driver's licence required.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, good housekeeping, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination and background check.

Work Environment

• Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
