Job summary

Sterling Crane Canada is hiring a Heavy Equipment Technician (licensed 310T) at the Corunna/Sarnia, ON branch. This full-time hourly position involves field and shop work with occasional overtime, Monday to Friday within 8:00 AM–4:30 PM MST.

A strong focus on safety and teamwork is essential. Qualified candidates must hold a Journeyperson license (310T) or Heavy Equipment Technician, with knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems, and be prepared for CVIP-related requirements.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson licensed 310T Truck & Coach or Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Experience with electrical and hydraulic systems.
• CVIP license or willingness to enter the CVIP program.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with safety in mind.
• Local to Sarnia/Corunna region; IUOE Local 793 membership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mobile and crawler hydraulic cranes, boom trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and trailers.
• Perform mechanical inspections including Commercial Vehicle inspections.
• Use testing equipment to identify issues.
• Address outstanding repairs promptly.
• Order parts and track fleet maintenance in the Sterling Crane Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Provide detailed repair comments in both paper and electronic work orders.

Sterling Crane has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Equipment Technician (licensed 310T Truck and Coach Technician) based in our Corunna/Sarnia, ON branch. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with occasional overtime required.

JOB TYPE

Full-time hourly position, unionized. Field and shop work required.

LOCATION

696 Polymoore Drive, Corunna, ON N0N 1G0.

HOURS

Monday through Friday, within business operating hours of 8:0 AM to 4:30 PM MST (40 hour/week). Overtime will be required as needed.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair mobile and crawler hydraulic cranes, boom trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and trailers efficiently.
• Perform mechanical inspections including Commercial Vehicle inspections.
• Utilize testing equipment to identify issues.
• Address outstanding repairs promptly.
• Order parts and track fleet maintenance in the Sterling Crane Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Provide detailed repair comments in both paper and electronic work order formats.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson licensed 310T Truck and Coach / Heavy Equipment Technician required.
• Working experience in electrical and hydraulic systems is required.
• Commercial vehicle inspection license or willing to enter the CVIP program.
• The successful candidate must demonstrate safe work practices, follow company policies and be able to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• A strong working knowledge of Liebherr, Grove, Tadano, Broderson and Kobelco crane manufacturers is an asset.
• Must supply own hand tools, a valid class 5 driver’s license; class 1 or 3 is considered an asset.
• The successful candidate will be required to be in good standing with IUOE 793 or become a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 793.
