Job summary

Randstad Canada in Millet, Alberta is seeking a yard loader/operator to manage steel pipe with wheel loaders and keep a safe, orderly pipe yard. You will load, unload, rack, stack, and secure loads while coordinating with swampers and yard staff.

The role requires 3+ years of wheel loader experience, a valid license, and comfort working outdoors in all weather. Competitive pay and full benefits accompany predictable day shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on wheel loader experience handling steel pipe.
• Experience loading, unloading, racking, stacking, sorting, and tallying pipe around trucks and trailers.
• Strong knowledge of pipe-yard safety and material-handling best practices.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Operate wheel loaders (Komatsu WA250/WA320, Hyundai HL770) to load, unload, rack, stack, sort and collar steel pipe.
• Stage and move materials to maintain a safe, clean, and organized yard.
• Work with swampers during loading/unloading to ensure correct load position and securement.
• Tally and verify incoming/outgoing pipe shipments; perform regular inventory counts.
• Perform daily loader inspections and identify maintenance or safety issues.
• Contribute to general pipe-yard duties and coordinate with yard staff to maintain smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Command Komatsu (WA250, WA320) and Hyundai (HL770) wheel loaders to load, unload, rack, stack, sort, and collar steel pipe.
• Stage and move materials efficiently to maintain a safe, spotless, and highly organized pipe yard.
• Partner closely with swampers during loading and unloading, assisting with proper load positioning and securement on trucks and trailers.
• Tally and verify incoming and outgoing pipe shipments while conducting regular inventory counts.
• Complete daily loader inspections, proactively spot equipment maintenance needs, and enforce safety standards across all operations.
• Pitch in on general pipe-yard duties and collaborate with yard personnel to keep daily operations running seamlessly.

Qualifications

• You bring at least 3 years of direct, hands-on experience operating wheel loaders specifically handling steel pipe.
• You possess proven expertise in loading, unloading, racking, stacking, sorting, and tallying pipe safely around active transport trucks and trailers.
• You demonstrate a deep understanding of pipe-yard safety and material-handling best practices, including working seamlessly alongside swampers and yard crews.
• You confidently perform daily equipment inspections, identify early mechanical or safety issues, and ideally bring experience with Komatsu WA250/WA320, Hyundai HL770, or comparable wheel loaders.
• You hold a valid driver’s licence with reliable transportation and embrace working outdoors in all weather conditions, year-round.
