Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a field operator to safely operate excavator, front loader, bulldozer, or other heavy equipment to bale, load and move waste material at our Canadian sites.

You will perform daily inspections and maintenance, grease and top up fluids, and substitute for colleagues as needed while keeping grounds clean and orderly. Forklift certification is required; ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill certifications may be needed.

Qualifications

• Completion of forklift certification.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste or other material into trailers.
• Perform daily inspection and maintenance checks on equipment.
• Grease and lubricate equipment; check and top up fluids daily.
• Steer, guide and drive listed equipment at the site as required.
• Substitute for another operator when needed; assist with crew coverage.
• Clean debris from tracks and gears and maintain site grounds cleanliness.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Safely operate and/or have the ability to operate various equipment including excavator, front loader, bulldozer, or other heavy equipment and/or steer equipment to bale, load and move waste material.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate necessary equipment to bale and load waste or other material into trailers.
• Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
• Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids to equipment daily.
• Operator will steer, guide and or drive the above listed equipment at the assigned site, if the equipment is used at the particular site(s) using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons and pedals.
• Operator will substitute for another operator if someone is absent from the work crew or as needed/required.
• Operator will clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment by pulling and or cutting material away from tracks and gear mechanisms at least once daily or more if needed.
• Maintain appearance of the grounds and facility.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
