Job summary

CEDA International is recruiting a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician for our Fort McMurray shop. You will diagnose, repair, and service Hydrovacs, trucks, and related equipment using OEM diagnostics. Expect 12‑hour shifts on a 7x7 or 14x14 rotation, with a focus on safety, quality, and in-house repairs.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (On-Road) certification is required.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with no more than five demerits in the past three years.
  • Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license is an asset.
  • CVIP license or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and pump systems is an asset.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
  • Provide your own tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Hydrovacs, Wet Vacuum Trucks, Combo Units, Water Trucks, High Pressure Water Blasting equipment, highway tractors, and trailers.
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines and after-treatment systems (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, John Deere).
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, PTOs, clutches, transmissions, differentials, vacuum pumps, blowers, and burner systems.
  • Complete CVIPs (Commercial Vehicle Inspections).
  • Interpret work orders and document repairs.
  • Mentor apprentices and support their development.
  • Participate in toolbox and safety meetings.

Whether you're looking for a 7x7 or 14x14 rotation, you'll enjoy steady, year-round work while building your skills alongside experienced Journeyperson technicians. Based out of our truck shop at 180 MacLennan Crescent in Fort McMurray, AB, you'll work on one of the industry's most diverse fleets using OEM diagnostic software, specialized tooling, and equipment that supports continuous learning and professional growth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Hydrovacs, Wet Vacuum Trucks, Combo Units, Water Trucks, High Pressure Water Blasting equipment, highway tractors, and trailers (Peterbilt, Kenworth, and Western Star)
  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines and after-treatment systems, including Cummins, CAT, Detroit, and John Deere
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, PTOs, clutches, transmissions, differentials, vacuum pumps, blowers, and burner systems
  • Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVIP)
  • Interpret work orders and accurately document completed repairs
  • Mentor apprentices and support their development
  • Participate in daily toolbox and safety meetings while adhering to company and site safety requirements

Role Specifications:

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (On-Road) certification required
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence with no more than five demerits in the past three years
