Job summary

CEDA in Fort McMurray is hiring a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (On-Road) for year-round, full-time work in a busy truck shop. You’ll service a diverse fleet, perform diagnostics and repairs, and work with OEM software and specialized tooling.

We offer a competitive wage of $63.44/hour, a $800/month EV/Heavy Equipment Technician allowance, and a comprehensive benefits package with pension contributions starting on day one. Rotations include 7x7 or 14x14 for steady work.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (On-Road) certification is required.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with clean record in past 3 years is required.
• CVIP licence or ability to obtain one is an asset.
• Must provide own tools and pass pre-employment drug/alcohol test.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Hydrovacs, Wet Vacuum Trucks, Combo Units, Water Trucks, HPW blasting equipment, and trucks/trailers.
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and after-treatment systems (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, John Deere).
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems, PTOs, clutches, transmissions, differentials, vacuum pumps, blowers, and burner systems.
• Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVIP).
• Interpret work orders and document repairs; mentor apprentices.
• Attend toolbox and safety meetings while following site safety requirements.

Based out of our truck shop at 180 MacLennan Crescent in Fort McMurray, AB, you'll work on one of the industry's most diverse fleets using OEM diagnostic software, specialized tooling, and equipment that supports continuous learning and professional growth.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on Hydrovacs, Wet Vacuum Trucks, Combo Units, Water Trucks, High Pressure Water Blasting equipment, highway tractors, and trailers (Peterbilt, Kenworth, and Western Star)
• Diagnose and repair diesel engines and after-treatment systems, including Cummins, CAT, Detroit, and John Deere
• Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, PTOs, clutches, transmissions, differentials, vacuum pumps, blowers, and burner systems
• Complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections (CVIP)
• Interpret work orders and accurately document completed repairs
• Mentor apprentices and support their development
• Participate in daily toolbox and safety meetings while adhering to company and site safety requirements

Role Specifications:

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (On-Road) certification required
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence with no more than five demerits in the past three years
• Class 1 or Class 3 driver's licence is considered an asset
• CVIP licence or the ability to obtain one
• Experience with hydraulic, electrical, and pump systems is considered an asset
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Must provide your own tools
