Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics / Electrician Dual Ticket (preferred) to support our Mining client in Nunavut. In this role, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of Caterpillar generators and Prime power units.

This opportunity offers a life-changing chance to contribute to northern communities and work with a leading CAT dealer. You will diagnose, repair, and document work while collaborating with the Finning team across shifts.

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician, or Dual Ticket Electrical and HET Certified.
• Valid driver’s licence with a recent clean abstract.
• Prior powerhouse operation experience is an asset.
• Supervisory control system experience including Woodward, SCADA, DSLC, emcp 4.1-4.4 is an asset.
• Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls or Tier 4 training is an asset.
• Previous Caterpillar power generation or mining experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operate and repair Caterpillar generators in a powerhouse setting.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot C175 engines and genset repairs.
• Repair engines, generator, fuel system, heat exchangers and PLC controllers.
• Utilize CAT SIS and ET daily.
• Complete technical documentation (daily service reports, warranty, crossover notes, inspections).
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the Finning team.
• Coordinate with Service Supervisor on tasks as required.

Job Description

Important Details

• Schedule:
  • 12 Hours per Day - Paid on a 5x2 schedule
  • 14x14 Continuous Day Shift / Night Shift Rotation
• Travel Assistance to get to marshalling point (tax free)
• Up to $1,200 per rotation (to cover associated costs of getting to marshalling point)
• Customer flights provided from Edmonton or Yellowknife
• Customer Camp provided
