Strive Recruitment Inc. in Winnipeg is seeking a Shop Heavy Duty Mechanic for a daytime, on-site role with a 7–8 AM start, Monday–Friday, no weekend work, and occasional on-call overtime.

You will repair and maintain hydraulic components, cranes, lifts, and mobile equipment, following OEM specifications. A Red Seal is preferred; 4th Class is welcome. Strong troubleshooting and accurate documentation are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in heavy-duty mechanics (trucks, cranes, hydraulics).
• Red Seal preferred; 4th Class welcome.
• Welding and electrical knowledge a strong asset.

• Own tools and ability to work on-site.

Responsibilities

The Role

Our client in the heavy-duty space is looking for a Shop Heavy Duty Mechanic in a non-unionized environment in Winnipeg. This role is a daytime position with a starting time at 7 AM or 8 AM Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime for any on-call emergencies and no weekend work. Preference is given to those in the heavy-duty mechanic, commercial transport, and millwright trades. Preference is given to those holding a Red Seal certificate.

Performing assembly, disassembly, and repair of hydraulic components, cranes, lifts, and additional mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment in accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
• Diagnosing equipment by locating sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
• Ensure proper operation of equipment through checks and tests. Replace or repair defective parts in equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production breakdowns.
• Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Interpret technical manuals to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and warranty requirements.
• Execute routine scheduled Planned Maintenance (PM) services, appraisals, and Safety Inspections.
• Use of computerized maintenance management software (CMMS). Developing maintenance schedules for major and minor equipment as well as facility needs (PM’s)
• Maintain client relationships with professional interactions during client drop by's at the shop.

Requirements

• Comfortable working fully on-site.
• Red Seal certification in Commercial Transport, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or Millwright preferred. 4th Class welcome.
• 3+ years of experience in a heavy-duty mechanic space, performing repairs on trucks, cranes, skid steers, hydraulic systems, engines, and mobile equipment. Welding and electrical knowledge is a strong asset.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with the technician team and fill out worksheets.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, allowing for efficient identification and resolution of equipment issues.
• Ability to work as part of a team and also be proactive and work on one's own initiative.
• Ability to multitask in a dynamic environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Time management and priority management skills.
• Has own tools.

• $40 to $45 depending on experience.
