Job summary

Finning Canada is seeking a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician (Red Seal preferred) to join the Surrey branch. The role covers troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of Caterpillar general line equipment, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

The position offers a unionized, shop-based environment with comprehensive benefits and ongoing CAT training paid for by Finning. Full-time permanent employment with competitive wages and pension options is provided.

Qualifications

  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification is preferred.
  • CAT troubleshooting experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Understanding of Caterpillar product line is an asset.
  • Experience with Power Systems and/or Marine equipment is an asset.
  • Gas engine and power generation experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment.
  • Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure value for work performed.
  • Diagnose faults using computerized and other testing equipment.
  • Provide on-site safety reference and follow supervisor instructions.
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service commitments and perform related duties as required.

Finning Canada is looking for passionate and experienced Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians (Red Seal preferred) to join our team based out of our Surrey branch. Our Heavy Equipment Technicians are responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Caterpillar general line.

  • Wage: $50.25 - 55.84 (probationary - full rate)
  • Paid Time Off in Year 1: Vacation & Sick time

Job Description

Trouble shoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed. Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements Working with the Supervisor on various tasks Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment Various related duties as required

Specific Skills & Experience

Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification Demonstrated troubleshooting experience, specifically on CAT equipment Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset Experience with Power Systems and/or Marine equipment is an asset. Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset

This is a shop role based out of Surrey, on a 5x2 schedule A condition of employment may include the ability to wear a respirator where applicable
