Job summary

Blackline Civil Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair and maintain a wide range of heavy equipment and diesel-powered vehicles.

The role focuses on safe operations and compliance across Alberta Central/Northern projects. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues, perform repairs on trucks, loaders and excavators, and conduct routine maintenance while keeping accurate service records.

Qualifications

• Journeyman heavy duty mechanic certification or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Repair heavy-duty equipment (trucks, loaders, excavators).
• Perform routine maintenance and preventative servicing.

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. You’ll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and diesel-powered vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Perform repairs on heavy-duty equipment (e.g., trucks, loaders, excavators)
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative servicing
• Complete inspections and maintain accurate service records
• Ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards
• Work collaboratively with operators and supervisors
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (or equivalent experience)
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Experience with brands like CAT, Komatsu, John Deere (preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
• Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 is an asset)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
