Job summary

Blackline Civil Inc. is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy equipment and diesel-powered vehicles in Alberta. You will ensure safe, efficient operation across central and northern projects.

The role requires diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, performing repairs on trucks, loaders, and excavators, and maintaining thorough service records with a strong emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 preferred).
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. You’ll be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment and diesel-powered vehicles to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues
• Perform repairs on heavy-duty equipment (e.g., trucks, loaders, excavators)
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative servicing
• Complete inspections and maintain accurate service records
• Ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards
• Work collaboratively with operators and supervisors

Qualifications & Experience

• Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (or equivalent experience)
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
• Experience with brands like CAT, Komatsu, John Deere (preferred)
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
• Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 is an asset)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
