Job summary

Charger Logistics in Calgary is seeking a motivated Apprentice Mechanic for our Service Department. You will diagnose mechanical problems, perform inspections, and work on medium and heavy-duty trucks, using test drives, pressure gauges, and motor analyzers as needed.

This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and cost-effective repairs. Applicants should have knowledge of truck parts and DOT/MTO regulations, and a valid G-class license; apprentices with 310T/310J are an asset and on-site work is

Qualifications

• Apprentice mechanic capable of diagnosing mechanical problems.
• Strong problem solving and time management in a fast-paced shop.
• Good understanding of truck parts and general repairs.
• Safety-conscious and able to follow shop procedures.

Responsibilities

• Receive driver/owner reports and diagnose problems using test drives and instruments.
• Perform preventative maintenance, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics, and general servicing on medium/heavy trucks.
• Clean, repair, recondition and maintain equipment and components.
• Aim to return equipment to operation in a cost-effective and timely manner.
• Adhere to Charger safety procedures while performing all tasks.

We are currently expanding and looking to add a motivated individual to our Service Department based out of our Calgary office.

Job Responsibilities:

• Receive driver and owner/operator reports and conduct initial inspection to diagnose problem using test drives and test instruments, such as pressure gauges, motor analyzers, and other equipment as needed
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, air and hydraulic brake repairs, warranty procedures, steering and suspension, electrical diagnostics, etc. all on medium and heavy duty trucks
• Clean, repair, recondition and maintain equipment and components
• Responsible for getting equipment back up and running in the most efficient and cost-effective manner available
• Perform all tasks according to Charger safety procedures

Requirements

• Apprentice Mechanic with knowledge of shop practices and the ability to diagnose mechanical problems
• 310T and/or 310J licenses are an asset
• Valid G-class driver’s license with clear driving record
• Knowledge of truck parts and equipment and truck repairs
• Knowledge of DOT/MTO rules and regulations is an asset
• Effective problem solver with the ability to understand issues and find solutions in a timely manner
• High attention to detail
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
