Qualifications

About Brucejack

Our Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in beautiful northern British Columbia, is located approximately 65 kilometres north of Stewart. Brucejack is a fly-in/fly-out operation with pick-up points across Western Canada, making it easy for people from different places to join us. We work closely with local First Nations communities including the Nisga’a, Tahltan, Gitanyow, and Gitxsan, to build respectful partnerships and celebrate our shared community.

Your Impact

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at Brucejack Mine, you will assist in the daily inspection, servicing, and repair of mobile heavy duty equipment and transport trucks. You’ll play a key role in keeping our fleet operating safely and efficiently. Your work supports the reliability of critical mining equipment and upholds Newmont’s commitment to safety and operational excellence.

As Part of Our Team, You Will
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair bulldozers, cranes, graders, haul trucks, and other heavy equipment
  • Perform routine servicing including lubrication, oil changes, and system adjustments
  • Use computerized and manual tools to detect faults and complete necessary repairs
  • Replace parts and components and test equipment to ensure performance meets specifications
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment hours, maintenance activities, and faults
  • Adhere to the site’s preventative maintenance program
  • Collaborate with HSE, Avalanche, and Environmental teams on equipment-related safety matters
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including participation in site-specific training
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
  • Interprovincial Red Seal Certification as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining diesel and gasoline-powered mobile/stationary equipment

  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills

  • Experience working with underground mining equipment is an asset

  • Snow cat and off-road vehicle maintenance experience is an asset

  • Strong safety record and mechanical aptitude

  • Proficient with basic computer applications (Word, Excel, data entry systems)

  • Valid driver’s license and certifications in WHMIS and TDG

Your Work Environment
  • Location: Brucejack Mine (remote camp, fly-in/fly-out)

  • Rotation: 13 days on / 13 days off, with 2 travel days

  • Conditions: Extreme weather, confined workspaces, and heavy equipment exposure

  • Requirements: Pre-employment medical screening, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, 12-hour shifts, full PPE compliance

The offered base salary will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, with consideration to internal equity. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
