Description

The Diesel Mechanic inspects, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs assigned on- / off-road and heavy-duty equipment to ensure proper function, vehicle safety, and to meet quality and performance goals.

Responsibilities

1. Diagnose and repair on- / off-road and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to meet preventative maintenance schedules, ensure proper function, and meet safety and quality standards.
2. Assist with entering data into the mechanic’s maintenance and repair database (e.g., Web Fleet Assistant (WFA)).
3. Communicate concerns or escalate complex or persistent problems to the Foreman or other manager.
4. Respond to service calls for equipment breakdowns when no supervisor is available, diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues from the Control Room, Dispatch, or Drivers.

Additional Responsibilities

Education

Valid “Class 5” driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract meeting Purolator’s insurance requirements (no more than four demerit points).

Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.
