Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical repairs on specialized equipment on the road.
  • Help build and expand the Service Department by looking for opportunities to support new and existing Falcon Equipment in the Ontario region.
  • Operate the service vehicle in a safe and efficient manner, obeying all traffic laws at all times and ensuring limited unit down-time by scheduling regular maintenance and servicing.
  • Responsible for the safe storage of the service vehicle and its assets when not on the road.
  • Perform remote and in-person diagnostics on a variety of complex electro-hydro-mechanical defects in heavy duty equipment utilizing digital diagnostic tools (Paldiag), and perform the most efficient and timely repairs, limiting customer equipment down-time.
  • Perform incidental welding operations on equipment.
  • Accurate and timely completion of service and warranty work orders, maintaining labor timecards daily without supervision.
  • Repair cable/electrical/air-operated working attachments, winches, compressors, pumps, electric generators, etc.
  • Perform post repair testing of equipment for proper performance.
  • Adhere to all federal, provincial and company workplace safety policies, regulations and compliances.
  • Communicate any unsafe conditions or accidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor to facilitate prompt correction or reporting.
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement to all field service operations, decrease equipment down-time, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively to provide quality seamless customer service.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques – be able to attend all training sessions locally and inter-provincially.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter and self-managing, able to consistently source and schedule work and be in the right place at the right time.
  • Fully Qualified Heavy Equipment Journeyperson with Interprovincial Red Seal Ticket or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in the related field.
  • Mechanically and electrically inclined – with a sound working knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Impeccable safety awareness.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with a recent clean driver’s abstract.
  • Proven abilities in reading and understanding hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised in inclement weather and remote locations in a fast-paced environment. Able to travel for long periods and book own out of hours accommodation.
  • Experience with service work orders and the ability to maintain customer transactions and technical stories related to maintenance/repair operations, with good attention to detail.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work well under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times.
  • Must be fully computer literate.
  • Weight handling of up to 80 lbs. required.
