Qualifications

  • Experience welding high-strength steels and wear-resistant materials.
  • Able to work in all weather and challenging environments.
  • Familiar with mine safety procedures and OH&S regulations.
  • Valid driver's license with clean abstract; able to operate mobile welding trucks.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Heavy-Duty Equipment Welder to join our team. This position is responsible for performing high‑quality welding, fabrication, and repair work on a wide range of heavy mobile equipment used in coal mining. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a demanding industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform welding repairs and fabrications on heavy-duty mining equipment, including:
  • Shovels
  • Loaders
  • Excavators
  • Other surface mining equipment
  • Conduct inspections to identify structural wear, cracks, and component failures.
  • Execute FCAW & SMAW welding processes with precision.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and repair manuals.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance teams to diagnose issues and minimize equipment downtime.
  • Operate cutting torches, grinders, and other shop fabrication tools.
  • Ensure all work meets safety, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, materials used, and equipment condition.
Qualifications
