Job summary

Irving Oil is seeking a Heating Service Technician in Kentville, Nova Scotia. You will diagnose and repair heating systems, perform installations, and complete routine maintenance while ensuring safe, compliant operation.

Ideal candidates hold a valid gas technician license, 2–4 years of experience, and a strong focus on customer service and safety. The role offers a structured rotational schedule, bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service-related customer requests by using industry and company best practices and tools to troubleshoot issues.
• Diagnose and solve complex system problems by inspecting gas flow, thermostats, heat flow and insulation.
• Analyze existing processes and make recommendations for improvement.
• Provide consultative services within defined areas and participate in projects; may lead a stream of work within a project.
• Provide final inspections of systems after repairs to ensure safe operation.
• Demonstrate understanding of products and services and impact on other parts of the organization.
• Provide status updates to the Service Manager and other team members.
• Maintain safe working environment per safety policies, PPE, leak prevention, and distracted driving.
• Lead by example and coach junior employees.

Job description

As a Heating Service Technician, you will complete jobs requested by our customers and solve their issues through diagnostic troubleshooting, performing routine maintenance on their existing systems and installing new equipment. Your goal will be to provide excellent customer service, ensuring the systems you are working on are safe and operating properly as well as completing your work in a timely and effective manner. Your success is dependent on the quality of work you complete and the satisfaction of our customers’ needs.

Kindly note that occasional travel may be required.

Your Responsibilities:

• Respond to service-related customer requests (installations, repairs, etc.) by using industry and company best practices and tools to troubleshoot customer issues


• Diagnose and solve complex system problems by completing steps required during inspection, including checking gas flow, thermostats, heat flow, and insulation


• Analyze existing processes and make recommendations for improve them, using best practices and previous experience


• Provide consultative services within defined areas, participate in projects and may lead a stream of work within a project


• Provide final inspections of systems once repairs are completed to ensure all equipment is operating safely


• Demonstrate an understanding of our products and services and area's impact on other parts of organization to support operations within Residential & Commercial Energy Services and our customers


• Provide status updates and pertinent information, as required, to the Service Manager, Fulfillment Managers and other Residential Energy Services team members


• Ensure and maintain safe working environment according to safety policies and procedures, including PPE, Leak Prevention and Distracted Driving


• Understand the requirements of the job and work independently with a minimal degree of supervision, take a lead role in jobs and provide guidance/coaching to more junior employees by encouraging contributions from all team members and leading by example

The expected salary range for this position is $54,380 - $76,132. Placement within range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and skills.
