Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Healthcare Security Guard for St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay, ON. The role involves on-site patrols, monitoring access, and supporting staff to ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors.

You will engage in incident reporting, assist distressed individuals, and collaborate with emergency responders as needed, all while maintaining professionalism and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certification.
• Meets immunization requirements (Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TB).
• Excellent English communication (verbal and written).
• Ability to write detailed incident reports.
• Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, respond quickly.
• Able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of hospital departments, parking areas, and surrounding grounds.
• Monitor access points to maintain a safe environment.
• Respond promptly to emergency calls and incidents.
• Assist staff with distressed patients and visitors using verbal de-escalation.
• Provide courteous customer service to patients, visitors, and staff.
• Write accurate incident reports using digital systems.
• Coordinate with police, fire, EMS and other responders when needed.
• Maintain professionalism and awareness in a healthcare setting.

Overview

Paladin Security is looking for compassionate, professional, and safety-focused Healthcare Security Guards to join our team at St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay.

St. Joseph's Hospital is a specialized rehabilitative care hospital within St. Joseph's Care Group, providing rehabilitation, mental health, addictions, and complex continuing-care services throughout Northwestern Ontario.

In this role, you'll do much more than patrol hallways—you'll become an important member of the healthcare team by supporting staff, assisting patients and visitors, preventing incidents, and helping create a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly and professionally to emergency calls and security incidents.
• Assist healthcare staff with distressed patients and visitors using verbal de-escalation techniques.
• Provide excellent customer service by assisting patients, visitors, and hospital staff.
• Write accurate, detailed, and objective incident reports using digital reporting systems.
• Collaborate with police, fire, EMS, and other emergency responders when required.
• Maintain professionalism and situational awareness in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Must Have

• Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
• Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C Certification.
• Record of immunization for:

  • Current 2-Step TB Skin Test
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to write detailed and accurate incident reports.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and respond quickly during emergencies.
• Ability to successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Record Check.
• Strong customer service skills with a genuine passion for helping others.
