Safety, Health & Environment Manager

Your Mission
Based in Mississauga, reporting to the VP of Operations as part of the Operations Leadership Team, you will develop and implement programs to ensure a safe work environment, prevent injuries, and comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations at local and global levels. You will support stakeholders to foster a Culture of Caring, contributing to the health, safety, security, and well-being of people and the planet. You will oversee environmental initiatives at the national level across Canada.

The role involves interaction with multiple manufacturing sites, remote workers, and sales teams. You will work independently and collaboratively to meet organizational needs and contribute to the overall HSE strategy. Puratos aims for net-zero emissions, carbon neutrality by 2025, zero waste to landfill, and water balance by 2030. This position offers an opportunity to lead environmental initiatives aligning with these sustainability goals.

What You Will Do

• Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
• Promote HSE awareness within the organization.
• Lead national environmental initiatives with regional support.
• Develop and implement HSE policies and procedures aligned with global and local standards.
• Conduct risk assessments, investigations, and chair Safety Committees.
• Manage data, KPIs, inspections, and audits related to HSE.
• Develop safety and environmental training programs and foster a safety culture.
• Provide technical support and ensure compliance with government and insurance requirements.
• Define and execute long-term environmental performance plans, including waste reduction and water and energy efficiency initiatives.
• Assess and implement operational excellence programs for HSE and environmental management.

What We Expect From You

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health, Safety, or Environmental Studies.
• Professional safety designation (CRSP, CRST, CHSC) preferred.
• 5-10 years of leadership experience, preferably in food manufacturing.
• Knowledge of HSE systems, excellent communication, and ability to influence change.
• Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
