Job description

At EY, you’ll have the chance to build a career as unique as you are, with the global scale, support, inclusive culture and technology to become the best version of you. And we’re counting on your unique voice and perspective to help EY become even better, too. Join us and build an exceptional experience for yourself, and a better working world for all.

The opportunity

EY has a well-established Climate Change and Sustainability practice to respond to our client’s growing need for guidance in key areas, including social and environmental sustainability, climate change, sustainable finance, and environment, health & safety (EHS). Our services include strategy and implementation, impact measurement, policy assessment, program and management system evaluation, assurance over sustainability data, and greenhouse gas emission verification.

We are looking to expand our team of professionals focused on providing high-value, independent, trusted advice as clients transition to a more sustainable economy.

Our Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCASS) team is growing rapidly. As a Manager, you’ll play a key role in that growth by providing EHS advisory services.

Working across many industries, you’ll develop your career by communicating strategic goals both internally and externally. It’s about understanding our clients deeply to give them exceptional, tailored solutions, as off-the-shelf recommendations don’t suffice here.

Your key responsibilities

As a Manager, no two projects will be the same. You’ll need to think quickly and challenge existing practices to solve complex issues. You’ll collaborate with colleagues across service lines, building relationships and identifying opportunities for our clients to benefit from our broader expertise. Regular travel across Canada will be required to meet with key clients, some of the most respected in their fields.

Skills and attributes for success

Client Leadership:

  • Lead a team to deliver EHS consulting engagements, such as EHS strategy, safety culture transformation, management system design and implementation, risk assessments, and audits.
  • Lead and facilitate client meetings, engaging with senior executives and leadership teams.
  • Develop high-quality written deliverables and presentations.
  • Understand industry trends and key performance drivers.
  • Stay informed about business and economic developments impacting clients.
  • Set and communicate clear value expectations.
  • Maintain productive relationships with client management and demonstrate technical expertise.
  • Support client relationship management, business development, and account growth initiatives.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Delegate tasks, conduct performance reviews, and provide feedback and training.
  • Exhibit strong project management and communication skills.
  • Utilize technology to enhance learning and service delivery.
  • Continuously develop personal skills and knowledge.
  • Build internal and external networks for long-term relationships and new business opportunities.
  • Bring energy, passion, entrepreneurial spirit, and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.

Minimum qualifications

  • University degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or Environmental Management.
  • 10-12 years of experience in consulting, project management, or industry, focusing on EHS risks, opportunities, and operational safety. Experience in strategy, management systems, process improvement, and reporting. Expertise in at least two of the following: environment, occupational health & safety, industrial hygiene, or operational risk.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with EHS IT platforms such as SAP, Enablon, Sphera, Process Map, or Medgate.

What we offer

We provide a competitive salary, performance-based rewards, and a comprehensive benefits package tailored to your needs, including bonuses, health coverage, pension plans, generous vacation policies, and paid days off. We also support your physical, financial, and social well-being through various programs. Additionally, we offer:

  • Support and coaching from industry-leading colleagues
  • Opportunities for skill development and career progression
  • Flexibility in how you manage your role

The salary range in British Columbia is $70,000 to $125,000, determined by education, experience, skills, and location.
