Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) Coordinator

We are seeking a qualified Health Safety, and Environment (HSE) Coordinator to join our Corporate Services team in Calgary, AB. The HSE Coordinator will support the HSE Manager in implementing, coordinating, and maintaining the HSE management system, assisting with daily HSE functions in the corporate office and project sites as needed.

The ideal candidate will have relevant training, knowledge, and experience in construction HSE procedures, supporting proposals, and engaging with personnel at all levels, including management, clients, subcontractors, and workers.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Research and update legislative and regulatory requirements to revise corporate HSE standards.
  2. Prepare and distribute HSE reports for corporate and project levels.
  3. Create and publish a monthly HSE bulletin for the Bantrel portal.
  4. Organize, attend, and document minutes for bi-weekly HSE meetings and quarterly joint safety committee meetings.
  5. Participate in office inspections and lead HSE audits (project, ISO, and COR audits).
  6. Assist in developing and rolling out HSE training programs.
  7. Support WCB claims management and maintain ISNetWorld and Avetta systems (training provided).
  8. Maintain a database of safety indicators and support the emergency response team.
  9. Contribute to Bantrel HSE Apps development and participate in project HSE assessments.
  10. Review incident investigations and provide feedback.
  11. Develop and support ConX tools including PowerApps, Power Automate, and Power BI for inspections, workflows, and reporting.
  12. Coordinate drug and alcohol testing and medicals.
  13. Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) experience.
  • At least 1 year of administrative experience.
  • Knowledge of occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation.
  • OH&S or NCSO certification is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, SharePoint, and Power BI; willingness to learn new systems.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction across all organizational levels.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a team-oriented approach.
