Job summary

EllisDon in Canada is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator to lead site safety initiatives across our projects in the Kelowna region. You will conduct site safety orientations, inspections, and incident reporting while promoting a culture of safety first.

The role requires 3–5 years of construction safety experience, knowledge of OHS regulations, and an active NCSO designation or pursuit thereof; BC Advanced First Aid certification is required.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of safety construction experience.
  • Ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
  • NCSO designation and knowledge of OHS regulations.
  • Advanced First Aid certification for British Columbia.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for site specific safety orientation, job site inspections and accident/incident reports
  • Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and escalating issues to resolution
  • Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take necessary measures to correct them
  • Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Fall Protection, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid
  • Create, maintain, and educate all site staff on maintaining a safety first culture
  • Review subcontractors’ pre-construction safety submittals.
  • Review and file subcontractors’ weekly safety documentation.
  • Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly project health and safety statistics

You as a Health, Safety & Environmental Coordinator will:

Is this the right role for you?


  • You have a minimum of 3-5 years’ of safety construction experience

  • You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations

  • You are working toward, or already hold, your NCSO designation and have knowledge of OHS regulations

  • You have the ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations

  • You hold valid Advanced First Aid certification for British Columbia

  • The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000
