Job summary

EllisDon Corporation in Ontario is seeking a Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator for on-site safety leadership on construction projects in London. You will manage orientations, inspections, incident investigations, and safety documentation.

The role requires 3-5 years of safety experience, OH&S knowledge, active engagement with safety committees; a NCSO or COR background is valued, and a college degree in OH&S is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years of safety construction experience.
• Ability to delegate and influence others to follow safety rules and regulations.
• Working towards or already certified under the Occupational Health and Safety Act/Regulations with experience working on a construction site.
• A holder of or working toward a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certificate.
• Completed a college degree or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
• Experience with the COR Certification process would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Oversee site safety including orientations, inspections, and subcontractor safety submittals.
• Identify potential hazards and directing rectification measures.
• Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance with safety procedures.
• Organize and conduct training programs such as WHMIS, Working At Heights, PPE, CPR/First Aid.
• Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries.
• Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly health and safety statistics.
• Regulate work site activity per Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees.
• Proactively identify and prevent hazardous situations and take measures.
• Provide leadership for a best-in-class health and safety program.

Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Coordinator

• Be responsible for site specific safety including facilitating orientations, site inspections, review and filing of subcontractor’s pre-construction and weekly safety submittals and conducting/leading accident investigations when necessary.
• Identify potential hazards and directing rectification measures.
• Monitor employees and subcontractors on site to ensure compliance to safety procedures and elevate issues to resolution.
• Organize and conduct training programs including but not limited to: WHMIS, Working At Heights, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid.
• Coordinate weekly safety audit summaries.
• Effectively compile weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly project health and safety statistics.
• Regulate work site activity in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committees.
• Proactively identifying and preventing hazardous situations and taking necessary measures to rectify.
• Provide leadership for a best-in-class health and safety program.
