Overview
Reporting to the HR & Volunteer Manager, this role will drive and oversee the health & safety programs, including wellness programs, training, incident investigations, implementation of corrective actions, and management of the safety recognition awards. The health and safety coordinator will also oversee the management of WINS alarm system, access control, and video surveillance.

Duties And Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Design, implement, and communicate health, safety, security, and wellness policies, including Job Hazard assessments (JHAs), return-to-work plans, training, and documentation.
- Lead and support workplace incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventative measures.
- Participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee and support safety initiatives.
- Develop and review emergency response procedures, coordinate drills, and train employees.
- Deliver safety orientations and ongoing training for staff.
- Support wellness initiatives aligned with WINS Wellness program, collaborating with external providers.
- Analyze accident and injury data monthly, report trends, and suggest improvements.
- Conduct inspections and audits, develop action plans for identified risks.
- Manage certifications like First Aid and other safety qualifications.
- Oversee Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) processes and support return-to-work strategies.
- Respond to incident reports and coordinate follow-up actions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Security
- Oversee alarm system functions, including installation, maintenance, and response.
- Manage access control systems and monitor entries/exits.
- Manage video surveillance systems, including installation, monitoring, and review of footage.

Requirements
- Post-secondary education and/or equivalent experience.
- At least 3 years in an occupational health & safety role, including WCB management.
- At least 1 year managing security alarms and video surveillance.
