Job summary

AgeCare is seeking a Health Care Aide to join our care team in Edmonton, Canada. This role supports residents with daily care under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, ensuring comfort and safety in line with care plans.

You will bathe, transfer, feed, and assist with routine treatments, while helping residents engage in activities and move around the facility. AgeCare offers great pay, benefits, growth opportunities, and a supportive, inclusive culture.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Post-secondary education an asset.
• Fluent in English, both oral and written.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA certificate or equivalent education.
• Active registration with the CLHA (Alberta Health Care Aides).

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents per care plan.
• Assist with transfers using lifts and transfer belts.
• Assist with feeding and nutrition per diet orders.
• Provide routine treatments under supervision of Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents to move around the facility and attend activities.
• Support residents to the Dining Room and social/therapy events.

Work Location:Address:FTE:Employment Type:The OpportunityA Health Care Aide (HCA) works as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care, to meet individual needs within the level of knowledge, skill sets & competency. The HCA, under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, applies this knowledge and these skills to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
