Job summary

AgeCare Calgary is seeking a Health Care Aide (HCA) to join our care team. Working under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, you will provide safe basic care and support to residents, including daily living tasks and mobility assistance.

Our environment emphasizes dignity, respect, and compassionate service. We welcome applicants with a PCA/HCA certificate (2002 or greater) or equivalent education, fluent English, and a caregiver mindset.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in continuing care or related environment preferred.
• Post-secondary education an asset.
• Completion of a recognized PCA/HCA (2002 or greater) certificate or equivalent education.
• Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses and Health Care Aides of Alberta (CLHA).

Responsibilities

• Bath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote personal comfort.
• Transfer/assist with resident transfers using appropriate equipment and PPE.
• Feed/assist with meals and refer to care plans for diet guidance.
• Provide routine treatments and care procedures under supervision of Staff Nurse.
• Assist residents in mobility around the facility and to various activities.
• Support residents in accessing beauty parlor, physiotherapy, and recreation activities.

The OpportunityA Health Care Aide (HCA) works as a member of the care team, collaborating on the delivery of resident care, to meet individual needs within the level of knowledge, skill sets & competency. The HCA, under the supervision of a Staff Nurse, applies this knowledge and these skills to provide a wide variety of safe and thorough basic care and services to residents.What You Will DoBath, shower, and wash residents according to the NCP to promote resident personal comfort and well-being according to strict water temperature control procedures.Transfer/assist with resident transfers in and out of bed, to and from wheelchair, commode, or toilet, using appropriate Engineering Controls (Ceiling Lifts, Mechanical Lifts) and Personal Protective Equipment Controls (Transfer Belt).Feed/assist with feeding residents during meals and nourishment/snack times. Refer to care plan for appropriate diet to each resident.Provide routine treatments (e.g. skin creams, bowel protocols) and care procedures to residents, under the direction of the Staff Nurse.Assist residents to travel about the facility.Assist residents to and from the Dining Room for meals.
